Chapter Member Wendy Rover Featured in National Coverage of the Search for Amelia Earhart’s Aircraft

Our Columbia Cascades Chapter is proud to recognize Wendy Rover, who served as our chapter chair, for her appearance in national news coverage about the ongoing search for Amelia Earhart’s aircraft.

Amelia Earhart holds a special place in the her-story of the Ninety-Nines as our organization’s first president. It’s exciting to see one of our own chapter members featured in coverage connected to her enduring aviation legacy.

Columbia Cascades Ninety-Nines bring a Compass Rose to Pearson Field

Featured in the Columbian — August 14, 2026

Our chapter made local headlines for bringing a historic aviation tradition to Pearson Field Airport in Vancouver, WA!

Chapter members helped create an 80-foot compass rose on the airport grounds, continuing a long-standing Ninety-Nines tradition of painting directional markings at airports.

The project was completed by chapter members and led by Grace Frame, working together with Pearson Field Airport, and celebrates both aviation history and the important role of women in aviation.

We are proud of everyone who contributed their time and effort to making this project a reality.
